Provo MTC 06/18/2010

Hi Linsey, It's a good picture. What can I say. I'm just awesome!

I got my visa yesterday, while drinking a jones soda. That was sure a sugar rush. I'm excited to leave. I went into the outside world today to get my visa signed. I was so excited. I haven't left this premises in so so long... I'm going insane.
I ate so much food this morning after the Temple. I had a giant waffle, a giant omlett, a V8 splash, and sausage. The V8 made me wanna die though. It made me sick.

I was made a Zone Leader and part of trio. Its pretty fun. We got to train the 'nueve misionaros' meaning the new missionaries. It was pretty fantastic. They were all super overwhelmed just like we were. Everybody is still jealous of my ties. nothing else to say. I hope Oakrest was good. Good job on your piano piece.

I've been playing in Sacrament Meeting for the past 3 weeks and 2 times as an accompianist to this vocal piece "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing". It was absolutely wicked!!!! I also made a special piano arrangement for "Nearer my God to Thee" and played it as a piano solo. I was only told the night before to prepare it. I worked on it, practiced it 30 min before Sacrament. It actually wasn't bad.

I tried out yesterday for the big devotional. (the lady in charge is amazing like Jon Schmidt amazing). I mostly wanted to hear feedback from her. It was sweet. Bye for now. Daryl

Dad,
Yeah, so who won on the Lakers and Celtics game? that's what we all wanna know.

Our mission president already warned us about the Spain loss in soccer and told us there will be a great cry of lamentation.
As of now, I hear america is tied. That'd be sweet if we won. The Brazilian lady in the travel office was happy about the downfall of N. Korea. That day we asked about our visas and she flat out told us she didn't want to help us at that moment cause she was busy watching that play of the game. She had a giant green and yellow wig, Brazil flag tatoos on each cheek, and a flag draped around her shoulders.

But, yeah. I got my VISA!!!! I'll call today and give you more details. I think my departure is tuesday, at 10:35, terminal 2, Delta.

Below is my Spain address. It's what it says in the big information book at the front desk. I don't know yet how the mail system works over there. Let's hope for the best.

Thanks for the pictures you sent. That was nice. Yes I did get a haircut, and I am required to get another one. It's crazy getting ready to pack and stuff...but I get to leave for Spain!!! FINALLY!!

"I said a little more off the top!!!!!!! Ahhh, grrrrr.......what's that?"

I was made ZONE LEADER and part of a trio this week. But that trio willl obviously be disolved (with me leaving for Spain next Tuesday). The best part was giving the orientation to the new district. They are so overwhelmed. Nothing else really special to report. I have 1 more minute before this computer kicks me off.

PS: Mom, I met someone from Tahiti going to Japan. I knew right away she was from Tahiti cuz she had your accent, understood spanish, and had black pearl earrings. I'm totally a sherlock holmes...no??? bye for now, Elder Bennett

Dear mom & dad,
Yes, I received the shirt, thank you very much.. No travel plans yet, but there were two spain missionaries who recieved their visa this week. One of them was one of the missionaries in our dorm going to malaga and one was a missionary who got here last week and going to Barcelona. So maybe we'll get ours too..or maybe not.. It doesn't really matter anymore I suppose.

Nothing too interresting going on.. I'll try to send some pictures home soon.. Oh Yeah, I'm able to do four miles as of wednesday.. I'm just busy doing mission stuff during my stay here.. Tell Jared Kilgore "hi" back and also to the family and the Ward members. "Happy Father's Day" dad.
Elder Bennett
Here's a picture of all the missionaries in my district (one is missing. He's taking the pic). This pic was taken in front of the Provo Temple.

What humour Linsey? Anywho.. I picked up another rose this morning, cuz it smells fantastic. So we were walking back from the Temple, and I was smelling my rose.. We stopped at the same traffic light, and I looked behind us.. Lo and behold, it was our two favorite young ladies.. I don't think they remembered the last encounter. Thankfully! I guess they're BYU students who work at the MTC or something. I kept the rose this time, lol I didn't offer it. I got the package, thanx.. It was great having another shirt and Thanx for the pin too.
I also received a package from Zach Harris.. That was very cool.. I saw Tanner yesterday during gym.. but I didn't get to talk with him for more than a sec, but it was nice.. Have fun.

Dear family,
I'm good. Some guy from the 70 spoke to us last Tuesday. He was kinda an awkward speaker, and half of his talk was watching a clip from some space program, but it was cool nevertheless. It was about the importance and power of prayer. I wrote the poem below after the devotional.
Prayer
The world seems small, admist the stars,
yet the lord hears me, he hears my prayer
when the road is tough, too hard to bear,
he helps me, he hears my prayer,
When I'm discouraged and in despair,
the Lord saves me, He hears my prayer,
I'm lifted in joy, I'm lifted in love,
I can smile, the lord is there.
We all have scars, get back to work,
the lord knows you, he hears your prayer

I still have the same companion Elder Pratt. I speak spanish alright. My grammar is off though. Now, we're only allowed to speak spanish pretty much everyday. When does Tanner come to the MTC? I have not seen him yet. I've run into other aquaintances tho. It was cool.

According to Elder Talbot who is in the same room than us, we may be leaving for Spain on June 15th, or July 5th. He knows someone and that's the rumor he heard. But nuttin' official. The travel office doesn't like us, cuz we bug them a lot about our travel itinerary.

That's way cool that Phil is now out in the field. Thank you for his address and I will be sure to write to him. I could use another T-shirt. 3 isn't enough. I go thru one a day. I work hard at the gym. I can already run 3 miles again. I'll try to get to 5 before I leave.(send the red and white striped one, the v-neck, its actually long.)

No, I haven't looked at the blog. I am not allowed to. That rule is enforced with a plethora of firewalls and restrictions...but it's all good.

Hi Linsey,
I read a Lot of excitement from your email little sister! Cool for you for performing "The Angel of Music" from the Phamtom of the Opera. That's way cool you performed it as a solo on your violin. That's awesome!! I'm glad you played softball at school and that you are now off for the Summer. I dont have nothing too exciting like you to say except maybe that I did a dare this morning. We all went to the temple across the street from the MTC this morning and on the way back, I picked a rose off a rose bush because it looked like it would smell good...and it did! So, we were at the cross walk, waiting to cross the street (me and a bunch of my district missionaries) and there were two young women about 18-19 years of age and Elder Johnson, a member of my district dared me to offer the rose to the girls and ask them to write to me. So I did. It was the funniest thing I've done here so far. We busted up laughing. Anyway, that's all I can think of telling you for now little sister.

Well it's good to hear from all of you and to know that everything is well.
see you later

What are my grades for school?
I haven't left yet. The visa situation is miserable, and I have an awful hunch I'll be here all nine weeks. I'm supposed to be in spain right now... None of us have heard anything about our visas or travel itinerary. Oh well....

Spanish is pretty cool. I like it. Next week we are expected to only speak it. Our group is getting along well. Four of us are going to Malaga Spain. The rest are going other places. I am looking forward to Madrid. I saw the MTC on a poster, it has 3 bulidings, a chapel, a temple and an apartment complex/classroom.
Provo is good. I like the spirit that is here. I'll be out of here long before July hopefully. One sister going to our mission, in our zone, just left this week...but, not to Spain. She's been here about 12 weeks...

I love you too.

Time is flying so fast now. I can converse, pray, bear my testimony and give a short lesson in Spanish so far. All of our classroom instruction is in Spanish.
I met an old man who is a speaker staff at the MTC, his name is Bro. Graham. He served his mission in Tahiti in the old days. He knew grandpa and said he was sorry about his poor health. Also Your grandaddy's song is in espanol. pretty cool hein?
yo companéro voy Malaga, Espana tambien. Yeah, we were supposed to leave to madrid on tuesday, but we´re hoping next tuesday. .. Daryl

Querida Familia,
Dad, I'm sorry to hear that you are sick.... I am not sure how the mail works here. It's all sort of funky.

I got a new set of scriptures with the standard MTC package. I bought myself a mini Hymn book en espanol. The MTC bookstore was over flowing with them.
P-days are friday.
Jeffery R. Holland spoke on tuesday. it was good. I really like what he said about missionaries and Temples. We are so bless to be here and to be participants in serving our Heavenly Father.

I went to the Temple on my P-Day and it was an uplifting experience. Going to the Temple is one of the highest honor for missionaries. Missionary work is very important! I am supposed to be here and I am glad that I am here!!!

My companero's name is Elder Pratt - see pic below. (yes he's related to the Orson pratt.) He's cool. He works hard and is dedicated to be a good missionary and he speaks espanol. I did get the bottom bunk. Its shweet. A typical day is super long. We get up way early and do mostly class time where we learn Spanish and study the Gospel principles. Within 24 hours we were expected to bear our testimony and pray in spanish. I'm doing alright. They have loads of food. Its a giant buffet everyday. I try not to indulge myself too much, but I do it anyway. My goal is not to gain weight. We get to go to the Temple only on P-Day, and our first real P-Day is friday. This week is a half week so we only get half a p day...
